What works are taking place?

We will be carrying out carriageway patching works on A229 Cooper’s Corner, Hurst Green.

We will be returning later in the year to carry out surface dressing works. We’ll update signs on site with a date nearer the time.

When will these works start?

Work will start on Wednesday 3rd June 2020 and continue for 3 nights.

Road closure information

A229 Cooper’s Corner will be closed to through traffic between A21 & Merriments Lane between 8pm and 6am each night.


Traffic will be diverted via A21, A268 Hawkhurst Rd, A268 High St, A229 Highgate Hill, A229 Moor Hill, A229 Horns Rd, A229 Horns Hill and vice versa.

Information for local people

Vehicle access: The road will be closed to through traffic. This is for your safety and the safety of our workers. If you do need vehicle access then please discuss this with the team on site. We will try to give access where we can but there may be long delays whilst we make the area safe. We will always allow access for emergency vehicles. Pedestrian access will be maintained.

Weather: If it rains, we might be delayed in our works. We will keep you updated with any changes via advance warning signs.

Parking: Please park your vehicle off road or in another location, otherwise your vehicle may be towed away. There will be ‘no parking’ signs and cones on site to advise where parking is restricted.

Buses: We apologise if our works cause disruption to your bus service. Please check with the bus company for any alterations to the service during this time.

Covid-19: We are working strictly in accordance with the latest government and industry advice to ensure our workers and the public remain safe, including; planning works to minimise contact between workers, workers are travelling to site alone, working at a safe distance from each other, regular hand washing and use of hand sanitiser, and use of enhanced cleaning procedures for vehicles and equipment. Please be considerate of our workers carrying out these works during this difficult time; they have a critical role in keeping our network safe and ensuring easy passage for other essential workers.
