Eastgate Street, Lewes - Pedestrian Crossing Works
What works are taking place?
We will be carrying out pedestrian crossing works on Eastgate Street, Lewes.
Work will include the replacement of the existing pedestrian crossing and addition of new crossing section across Eastgate St from the island to the church.
When will these works start?
Work will start Tuesday 1st September 2020 and continue for up to 7 weeks.
Road closure information
Due to the nature of the works, the small section of Eastgate Street (highlighted red) in front of the church will be closed 24 hours a day.
Traffic will be diverted east along Phoenix Causeway to Brooks Road Roundabout and back to Eastgate Street.
Information for local people
Weather: If it rains, we might be delayed in our works. We will keep you updated with any changes via advance warning signs.
Buses: We apologise if our works cause disruption to your bus service. Please check with the bus company for any alterations to the service during this time.
Covid-19: We are working strictly in accordance with the latest government and industry advice to ensure our workers and the public remain safe, including; planning works to minimise contact between workers, workers are travelling to site alone, working at a safe distance from each other, regular hand washing and use of hand sanitiser, and use of enhanced cleaning procedures for vehicles and equipment. Please be considerate of our workers carrying out these works during this difficult time; they have a critical role in keeping our network safe and ensuring easy passage for other essential workers.
