High Street, Ditchling - Drainage Repairs & Carriageway Resurfacing

What works are taking place?

We will be carrying out drainage repairs and carriageway resurfacing works on High Street, Ditchling.

Drainage Repairs: 26 Feb - 6 March 2020

In November 2019 we carried out an investigation of the drainage pipe under High Street, Ditchling. The results of this investigation showed that the pipe was damaged and in need of repair (see picture, left). The damaged drainage pipe was also causing potholes and damage to the road surface.

In order to fix this, we will need to replace the drainage pipe under the road. Due to the nature of these extensive works and the size of the equipment needed, the road will be closed 24 hours a day.

Drainage work will start on Wednesday 26th February 2020 at 8am and continue until 7pm on Friday 6th March 2020.

If further issues are discovered during the drainage work, we may need to extend the duration of the works. We will keep you updated via the advance warning signs on site.

Resurfacing: 9-18 March 2020

Following the drainage pipe work, we will be carrying out resurfacing work to repair the condition of the carriageway between B2116 West Street and Orchard Lane.

Work will start on Monday 9th March 2020 and 9am and continue until Wednesday 18th March 2020 at 4pm. The road will be closed weekdays between 9am and 4pm. The road will reopen outside of these hours and at the weekend.

If further issues are discovered during the drainage investigation, we may need to extend the duration of these works. This will mean we will need to postpone the resurfacing until a later date. We will keep you updated via the advance warning signs on site.

Diversion

Traffic will be diverted via B2116, Ockley Lane, Folders Lane, B2112 Common Lane & vice versa.

This diversion route will remain the same for the drainage and resurfacing work.
