Hooks Beech, Whatlington - Surface Dressing
What works are taking place?
We will be carrying out surface dressing works on Hooks Beech, Whatlingon betwen A21 and Park Lane.
Work will involve spraying bitumen binder onto a dry road surface. We then spread stone chippings and roll the surface to embed the stones.
Following works, advisory 20mph speed limits are put in place. This is to protect road users from loose chippings.
This type of work provides a safer, non-skid road surface. It also seals and waterproofs the road, extending the life of the road by 10 years.
Prior to the surface dressing works we need to remove road studs. This work will take place on Monday 18 July for one day between 8am and 5pm. During this time, this section of Hooks Beech will be closed.
The surface dressing works will take place on Saturday 30 July for one day between 8am and 5pm. During this time, this section of Hooks Beech will be closed.

Traffic will be diverted via A21, B2244, B2165, B2089 and vice versa
