Whitley Road, Eastbourne - Carriageway Preservation Works

Monday 15 August 2022

Scheme Location:

Whitley Road, Eastbourne - Carriageway Preservation Works

Scheme Information:

What works are taking place?

We will be carrying out carriageway preservation works on Whitley Road, Eastbourne.

We will be using Reclamite which is a penetrative bitumen rejuvenator used to protect the surface course of the carriageway. It is a cold applied emulsion which restores the chemical elements lost in the bitumen through its aging and oxidization process. As it penetrates the voids in the asphalt, it strengthens the aggregate bond and rejuvenates the bitumen, thereby extending its life for 5 additional years.

When will these works start?

Work will take place on Monday 15 August 2022 between 7pm and 6am.

Dates may be subject to change as these works are weather dependent. We will keep you updated with any changes via the signs on site and our website.

Road closure information

During this time, Whitley Road will be closed from A259 Seaside to St Phillips Avenue.

Traffic will be diverted via Seaside, Cavendish Place, Upper Avenue and vice versa.

Once the road surface is dry, the road will be re-opened and is safe to drive on immediately.

We will always allow access for emergency vehicles. Pedestrian access will be maintained.
